Individual Counseling

I work with clients struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotional reactivity, interpersonal difficulties, and other issues that prevent people from flourishing and truly being the person they know they can be.   An important part of our time together will be to explore your childhood memories and piece together how you got to where you are now.   We will also spend time exploring your emotional world.  The goal will be for you to have your emotions work for you, rather than against you.  We will also tend to your interpersonal styles.  Problematic encounters with people will be explored with the goal being to discover areas in which you can get what you want out of your relationships. 

 

I am a proponent of "positive psychology" as well.   Traditional therapy is focused on reducing negative symptoms of anxiety and depression, for example.  That is a very real and important value of therapy.   Positive Psychology complements that by increasing certain attributes shown to increase a sense of well-being.
